Introduction. Business Studies is introduced as an option at Key Stage 4. Studies in this area promote student understanding of the world of work and can also prepare the students for careers in industry and further education. Several of our students have managed to seek responsible positions in industry and many students have gone on to university. The success of the department is shown through good results at KS4 and KS5.

The students are able to put theory into practice with the enterprising ideas that they explore. Speakers regularly visit the school to give talks to the students on real life industrial issues and outside visits to industry are frequently arranged. Some of our visits have been to Jaguar in Birmingham, Marriott Hotel, Stoke Park Hotel, British Airways and many more.

We encourage our students to take an enterprising approach by running small businesses whereby they can gain experience and confidence in being entrepreneurs, handling financial affairs, exploring different marketing strategies and experiencing the area of human resources. Students are encouraged to keep up to date with all current affairs so they can widen their knowledge of real life issues which helps to promote understanding and relate to the work in the classroom. With our enterprising Sixth Form students we have been able to raise over £2000 for various charities.
